I purchased a second hand Samsung EVO SSD from CEX and I got to wondering what the inside was like as it was very lightweight. Samsung EVO drives are solid construction, and they are made of metal, I believe it is aluminium as it’s not magnetic.
I must note that opening any device where you have to remove a sticker or cut part of the sticker will void the warranty. CEX gives a 24-month limited warranty, which I have used on a smartwatch.
Well, this is disappointing, I guess that it’s small because it is only a 250 GB drive. Running a drive test using GSmartControl in Ubuntu shows that it’s at 92% healthy state, which means that it has quite a bit of life left in it still. This drive is going to replace my 120 GB generic drive that is holding Proxmox on one of my HP DL360 G7’s, I’ve not decided if I am going to raid 5 all the other drives with this or just install individually, like they are now.
I Still need to publish my setup list!
Chris!
